Does choosing a shorter retention period delete tickets right away?

No. Automatic deletion under the retention preference is not active in this release. Choosing a shorter period saves your preference for the future rollout of retention deletion and costs nothing. Before automatic deletion starts, Deskhero will communicate the timeline and give you the opportunity to export your data. Tickets you delete yourself still follow the existing 14-day recovery window.
