Which fields does a new form contain by default?

Every new form starts with four required fields: Email, Name, Subject, and Message. These four cannot be removed from the form. The Email field is also always required; the requirement of the other fields can be toggled.

How do I add more fields to a form?

1) Open the form in Configurations > Forms & Chat widgets. 2) Click "Add field". 3) In the "Your fields" picker, tick the fields you want; you can search, or filter by "Showing all", "Favorites fields", or "System fields". 4) Click "Done". If the field you need does not exist yet, click "Create new field" inside the picker to create it on the spot (Owner or Admin role required).

How do I change the order of fields on a form?

In the form editor, drag and drop the fields in the "Form fields" list into the order you want. On the published form, fields appear in the same order.

How do I make a form field required or optional?

Each field in the form editor has a requirement toggle. Turn it on to make the field mandatory. Required fields show an asterisk on the public form, and submissions are blocked with a "Field is required" error if they are empty. The Email field is an exception: it is always required and cannot be made optional.

Why can't I remove the Email, Name, Subject, or Message fields from my form?

Those four fields are the core of every Deskhero form, needed to create a ticket and identify the requester, so the form builder does not allow removing them. All other fields you add can be removed again with the remove control on each field row.

Can I add more than one rich text editor field to a form?

No. Only one text editor field is allowed per form; if you try to add a second one you will see the message "Only one instance of text editor is allowed for now, sorry!".

Yes, if the form includes a file upload field. Create a File Upload custom field (Configurations > Custom fields), enable "Allow in external forms" on it, and add it to your form in the form builder. Customers then get an upload control on the public form.

How do different custom field types appear on a public form?

Each field renders a matching input: Pick One shows a dropdown and Pick Many a multi-select with tags, number fields show a numeric input that respects the field's Min/Max, date fields show a date picker (with a time picker for "Date and Time"), On/Off fields show a switch, file upload fields show an upload control, and text fields show a standard input. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

Can the contact form pick up values from the page it is embedded on?

Yes. For each form field you can define where on your web page its value lives (a CSS selector, or a value your page provides), and choose what happens when a value is found: pre-fill the field, hide the field when a value was found, or always hide it. If every required field gets its value from the page, the form skips itself entirely and creates the ticket right away, which is how you build one-click "contact us about this order" buttons. Values that fail validation, like a malformed email address, are never used silently: the field is shown pre-filled so the visitor can correct it.
